My name is Rosalie "Rosie" Kimberlin. I spent almost 30 years on a large metropolitan police department, most of it as a sex crime investigator. As I think back on the many rape and assault cases I investigated, I am sure that if many of the victims had the element of surprise on their side and a self defense product they would not have fallen prey to the most vile of criminals. This is why I am proud to have a business whose products can prevent the "good guys and gals" from becoming crime statistics or worse. In addition to offering the finest self defense and surveillance products I am only too happy to provide free crime prevention tips on almost any subject you wish. Just email me at info@peppersprayetc.com. As you can see from the photo I am an animal lover and will from time to time share " tips and tales". I'll Always Wonder What Would Have Happened? I was assigned to a plainclothes patrol unit on a large metropolitan police department and my tour of duty ended at 3 AM. I took my gun and belt off and laid them on the seat next to me and proceeded to drive home. While stopped at a red light I could not help but notice a solo male passing southbound in front of me. He was staring at me intensely. The light turned green and I continued on my way home which was about a 12 mile drive. I looked in my rearview mirror and noticed the same man I had seen earlier staring at me. He was now following me. Every time I would change lanes he would also change lanes. He continued to follow me and when it came time to turn onto my street I waited until I was right at the street and then made a quick turn, so did he. All the time I was looking for a police car but like the old saying, there is never a police car when you need it. I decided to drive past my home and continue on until I could find a police car. I did not have a cell phone at that time. I made a turn at the end of my street and continued into another jurisdiction still looking for the police. The predator was still behind me. All of a sudden he sped up and came along side of me, and then cut in front of me, forcing me to the curb. I reacted immediately by grabbing Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson, jumping out of the car and ordering him to freeze and get his hands where I could see them. I got him out of his car and had him lean over the hood of his car where I patted him down for weapons. He only had a screwdriver, but a screwdriver used as a stabbing device can cause some serious injury or even death. A paper man drove up and asked if I needed help. I asked him to please call the police and he did. He was taken into custody and transported to the police station. He denied the whole incident so I will never know what his intent was but my guess would be rape and robbery for starters. I was armed and trained but I always wondered what would have happened to, for example, a nurse or waitress who got off work at that hour when there are few people on the streets. So, put yourself into the situation, I just described. What would you do? If your cell phone is charged and you are in a good reception area you can call for help. But what if it took ten minutes or more for someone to respond and this guy had a screwdriver at your throat? If you are in a concealed carry state and you make yourself familiar with guns and lose the fear of them, go for it. But, if you're not, then you need at least a defensive spray like a good Oleoresin Capsicum pepper spray. If he came up to the car you could have let him have it in his face and disabled him temporarily. This would give you time to back up or go over the curb and get to a safe place and wait for the police. Of course the preference would be for him not to get that close. The key is to be prepared and be aware. Look in your rear view mirror and see who is behind you. ezinearticles.com:http://ezinearticles.com/featured/RECEIVE A $5 GIFT CERTIFICATE FOR JOINING OUR MAILING LIST NOW.
